How many types of software are there and diffination of them?

What do you mean by software?
Computer is a programmable machine that helps to process the undefined thing by using computer software. A software is a set of computer programs that we can operate in the computer. Generally, software is classified into two classes , they are , system software and application of software.They are explain below:

System Software:
System software is the software that is used to control and co-ordinate the hardware and the software. It manages the resources, memory, files, task etc.
Mainly there are following system of software:

• Language translator (processors) : The language translator are used to translate or convert the source code into the machine codes source code are written assembly or high level language. The example of language translator are, Assembler,interpreter, and compiler.
• Simulator: Simulator is the system software that is used to simulate the execution of the programs of the other computer. This types of software is used to learn the subjects of technology nature.
• Emulator: Emulator is a software that is used to mimics the function of other programs,computer,modem,printer etc. It is also used for converting the program written in one language into other language.
• Utility Software: It is a software that is related with the utilities of the computer system. Generally it is used in file management, memory management, disks repairing, virus scanning etc. The example of utility software are: Norton Utilities, PC Tools, Scan disk, defragmenter etc.
  

Application Software: It is a software that is used for specific purposes. It is needed for the user to run the program in the computer. Generally, this software are developed by using the high level language. The example of application software are: Word processing, Spread sheet, Data based management System(DBMS),Graphics etc.
Application software are mainly classified into two classes they are:

1. Packaged Software
2. Tailored Software

Packaged Software: It is readymade and advance and standered software use for sprcific purposes. It is developed in the big warehouse by the group of export software developers or programmes. For example the Microsoft co-operation,USA developeds the different types of packaged software. Such as microsoft offices packages, microsoft visual basis etc. This software are equppied with all the essential tools and technology to enhance(to expand) user poductivity. Examples of packaged software are word processing, Data base Management System(DBMS), Graphics, Animation softwares etc.

Tailored Software: Tailored software is the special types of software that is design or developed as a requirements of individuals to organization.It is a smalls moftware that is developed in high level language for specific small purpose, For example: Accounting Software, Payrool Software, Departments store Software, Software for Bank etc are the tailored software.

These software are developed for solving the specific problems of specific users or organization. Gernarlly, these software are developed using the high level languagesuch as COBOL,C.C++,Java etc.
